Inspiration Challenge SCS

Gosh, it has been forever since I have played in the Inspiration challenge over at SCS!  I had some time this am and rushed over to the site.  Stef always picks such fun places.  Today was no exception.

I was inspired by these fun little vases

I instantly thought of a set of cards. The other day, I mailed a card to my sister. Now, keep in mind I put 64 cents on this card to mail -- that usually is enough. Well, shoot, the postman hit her up for ANOTHER 50 cents! Get out. Therefore, I kept these cards one layer -- 45 cents will cover these to be mailed.

I used GKD One in a Million for the sentiments (you can get this set free when you buy 3!), and PTI Turning a New Leaf for the leaves.  I will be making a small box to hold these cards for a future gift.

On a side note:

DO YOU USE POP TONE CARD STOCK or INK?  The above cards are made with this fabulous paper.  Pop Tone has such vivid color and is 100# paper.  The heavier paper is so nice for a card base.  Nothing worse then a flimsy base -- makes your cards feel cheap. Anyway, I noticed the other day that Pop Tone can be expensive!  However, did you know that STAMP SCHOOL (store name is A Walk Down Memory Lane) carries this card stock and ink and it is ONLY $6.00 for a 25 sheet package, or $4.99 for the matching ink pads!  For fun I googled Pop Tone cardstock - oh my!  One of the sites had $1.00 per sheet or $9.98 for 25 sheets!  Wow, I didn't realize it was that expensive out there in googleland!  I'm telling ya - if you like heavier card stock, AWDML is the place to get it!!  [I love saving you all money!]

Just Us Girls and Outlaws PAM

Today I made separate cards for my 2 Saturday Teams.

Just Us Girls is a color challenge; yellow, blue and white.  Pretty bright Spring Colors.

I was working on my self made buttons (coming soon) and I ended up with rather a fun template. I taped it on my card and sponged in the yellows and blues.  I used a darker hue with each color to add some depth to the sponging, added a sentiment from PTI Think Big #4, and added a ribbon.  My card is complete.

Do you like these colors?  Well, pop on over to JUGS and play along!  Be sure and check out the rest of the Team's samples - don't forget to leave them some love!

For my other card, The Outlawz Paper ala Mode challenge is embossing - either dry or wet.

I LOVE this card!  I love the Target washi tape -- the Hero Arts Just Saying Hi images, and the gorgeous embossing folder from Life Style Crafts.  Such a CAS card that brings a smile to my face!

Feel free to make 1 card and upload to both places!  Who knows you could be the winner!

Thanks for stopping by!

I Spy Sketches 16 Challenge

This week, Dyane Fogleboch was spied with this card:

and here is the sketch:

I am running really late with my sample today. (I have been behind all week!) and I missed one background layer - whoops.  I made a BIG button for the centered circle,  I love these buttons!  Note to self -- they work much better if you let them dry completely-  Can't hurry glossy accents :)  I am still working on the other button project... just letting you all know.  Oh yeah, duh,  - here's my card;

A CAS version of the sketch  [especially when you see my Team member's cards..]. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Thank You for Being My Friend.

Do you like this sketch? Well, come on over to I Spy Sketches and play in the challenge this week - while there, check out my team members samples -- you'll be drooling!

For Your Inspiration

It's that time again to be inspired by a beautiful photo from For Your Inspiration;

Love this beautiful beach!  Just don't see gorgeousness like this in Arizona.

At first I thought I would just re-create this scene, but that just isn't what happened after I saw the color combo over at Paper Players;

And, check this out!  I even finished off the inside of this card.
Not as pretty as the front, but I impressed myself by finishing the inside. :) I used a bunch of images to make this card- the "dad" is Sara England Design. I won this from somewhere a long time ago, and have never even taken it out of the package until today! The foliage and palms are from GKD Aloha and Vogue Vases. The sentiments are from Stamp School's The Men in My Life, and the mustache is from SP & Company Mustache Madness. Whew!  That's a list~

Like the inspiration photo?  Come on over to For Your Inspiration and play!

Mid Week Challenges

Did you all (my em subscribers) get bombarded with an email from my blog last pm?  As you could tell, I didn't stop stamping -- however, Blogger had stopped sending!  I finally (with help from my friend Tina) got it fixed!  It sent out ALL of the posts it missed (7 days worth thank you very much) in one  long email!  I am so happy it is working again!  My opinion of Blogger has sort of dropped -- there was NO HELP at all from the Blogger side.  I was even looking at changing to another blog company.  I am so glad the problem got fixed, I really did not want to start all over with another company.  Okay - enough of that...

Today, I am playing in The Ribbon Carousel blog challenge; a sketch.  Every week I have good intentions to play in this challenge and it never happens!

Not today! First thing this am I got going on this card~

and a little close up of the ribbon, along with my self made button! (Wait until you see what I am currently working on with buttons -- too much fun!)

I used my Hexagon cutters (on sale!!) for the background.  Yep, I cut 1 at a time, however,  I love the end result, so it was worth the time invested.  All other shapes [and flowers] were in my scrap drawer.  I am trying to use my "mistakes". :)  They work.  On a side note CONGRATS to the artist of this sketch, Debbie, who is the newest Dirty Dozen Member over at SCS!  Go Debbie!!  Have fun over the next 6 months.

For my second challenge today I joined in with.......my favorite One Layer Wednesday -- mini masterpiece. One of my favorite "sponging" stampers, Heather Telford, has joined up with the OLW Team (yep - they have a team now!) and is hostessing this week. Seriously, if you want to see some incredible cards, I highly recommend perusing Heather's blog. Heaven, absolute heaven!

I just love the masked off look with sponging! Heather was the first stamper I saw do this, and she has really started a trend!  It is everywhere.  I used my hexagon cutters and sponged on the inside.  I removed the cutter, masked the shape with post-its, and stamped the silhouette image from Stamp School's Flowers for Mom and used the sympathy from Christian Sympathy, also from Stamp School.

Once again, I am so happy my em subscribers are getting my posts!  I hope you are happy too. :)

SCS Color Challenge

It's my week over at SCS for the color challenge.  I chose Pumpkin, Bashful Blue and Night of Navy, with a dessert of Father's Day.  Per the course, I forgot the dessert.  Good grief!

I pulled out some of my severely, unused Stampin Up stamps; Line Background and Mixed Bouquet.  These both are retired.  [At this point, I believe 99% of my SU stamps are retired!]  The sentiment is from GKD Pleasant Plurals.

I saw th1s sketch for a Guest Designer contest for My Favorite Things;

 I thought, yeah I can try for this.  So I pulled out the colors from SCS and went to work;

I was pretty happy with the results..........until, I realized I used THERE SHE GOES stamps (Flowers of Happiness) rather than MFT stamps! (whoops) Oh for goodness sake - what a dork I am.  Needless to say, I am not trying out for the GD spot.

Pop on over to SCS and play in the challenge!  I would love to see you there~
